Nano materials as hydrogen absorbents:

Abstract

The global environmental situation has created the necessity for us to think of an alternative fuel to power our automobiles, which are today the main agents of pollution. Hydrogen fuel cell technology is an ideal solution to meet all our needs, be it environmental, economical or technical. The realization of the fuel cell technology is possible with the application of nanotechnology. Nano materials such as complex hydrides and carbon nanotubes can be used as hydrogen adsorbents to store hydrogen to be released under the required criteria to operate a commercial automobile. The main advantages of these nano materials are that; they have high weight ratio and they can be recharged or refueled in a short duration of time with commercial standards. These unique aspects of the nano materials make them the most desirable and economic storage element for hydrogen fuel cells.
